Community
Partnership: MKAWA, Malawi
Women of Vision Monterey Bay Chapter has
committed to raising a minimum of $10,000 per year, for 3 to 5 years,
for
the village of MKAWA, in Malawi, Africa. The funds go through World
Vision and used for the needs of the village.
"AIDS has been called the greatest humanitarian disaster of our
lifetime, and it's not just a health issue. AIDS is an issue of
economics, education, justice, development, gender, religion -
virtually every aspect of human life..."Malawi: Mkawa Community Partnership Report September 2007 (Download)

"Build A Caregiver Kit"
In response to the
AIDS pandemic, World Vision has created a very practical response:
Caregiver Kits. Each kit contains basic necessities like
soap, latex gloves, a flashlight and much more, items inaccessible and
unaffordable for people who need them most!
We assemble the
kits to be shipped to countries where they are most needed! Share the
joy we experience doing something about AIDS.

Adopt a Family
In late November/early December, Women of Vision Monterey Bay partners
with local social service agencies to provide gifts and food for needy
families in our area. We request large, families, because the size of
our group makes it possible for us to help larger families, otherwise
more difficult sponsor. The agency provides us with the information they
have from each family we are assigned: The first name of each family
member, male or female, age, clothing sizes, and specific requests.
We divide these lists up among ourselves and go shopping! When we have
the items purchased, we get together for a gift-wrapping party. We
deliver all the wrapped gifts,
either to the families themselves, or to the agency if the family has
requested privacy.
In December 2007, we were able to deliver gifts, gift cards and food for
two single-mother families, totaling 15 people.
