Who We Are

Women of Vision Monterey Bay Chapter was chartered as an auxiliary of World Vision on October 23, 2004 in Santa Cruz County, California.  We began with a six-week series of Cross Cultural Studies, examining issues of poverty, gender discrimination, and injustice around the world, and World Vision’s responses to these issues.  From that study, a Leadership Board of 12 women made the commitment to serve for a minimum of two years.  Maureen Thrash and Judy Hixson were our founding Co-Chairs, providing 3 years of energetic, wise, and devoted leadership, as we have moved forward.

Currently we have a Leadership Board of 19 women of diverse backgrounds, talents, and religious affiliations.  We are most grateful for the continuing assistance of our husbands and men friends who join us for our events and support us in so many ways.

We work very closely with Women of Vision and World Vision National staff, and are a non-profit with tax-deductible status under the 501-c-3 designation of World Vision.  All donations towards our projects are processed through World Vision.
